Our commando knives are made in the tradition of the WWII Pattern 3 Fairbairn Sykes Fighting Knives, which were made by several companies around the world during the years of the war.
Both the 4.5" and the 7" knives are the classic four-piece knife, made up of the blade and tang, the cross guard, the grip, and the retaining nut. The blade and tang are EN45 carbon steel and the grip is brass. A stainless steel blade is also available.
We offer the choice of the classic round grip or the modern oval grip - designed to conform to the shape of the hand better than most modern knives, while still retaining the classic look. Another modern twist on the classic design of the grip is the option of an index finger / thumb notch. Designed to create a reference point when handling the knife in darkness, the notch also gives the user a place to rest his / her index finger or thumb.
The final difference between the original Fairbairn Sykes Fighting Knives and the Gung Ho Commando Knives is the addition of an optional conical brass nut (or "skull crusher") to replace the classic hex nut.
These knives are recommended for military, former military, and collectors.
